It is at one end of the famous “Garden Route” . Due to the number of tourist there are a lot of restaurants in Port Elizabeth. It is also known as the “windy city” due to its coastal position and the “friendly city” due to the nature of the people that live there.

It is the centre of the South African car manufacturing industry with general motors, ford and Volkswagen having manufacturing plants there and also a lot of the car components are made there.
